Expeditionary Learning

Grand Valley Middle School is an Expeditionary Learning School. The expeditionary motto of "we are crew, not passengers" guides our school as we build cultures of respect, responsibility, courage, and kindness — where students and educators are committed to quality work and citizenship. Students take responsibility for each other and for their learning and build leadership skills that help them excel. We challenge students to think critically and take active roles in their classrooms and communities resulting in higher achievement and greater engagement in school. Our students are highly engaged learners, motivated to master academic content and produce high quality work. Their learning expeditions contribute to our community and beyond the classroom.Learning with a purpose helps students develop the academic skills and work ethic that prepare them for high school, college, and beyond.
